Union of the European Conferences of Major Superiors


 A history : to be united for a better service

 

1980: a first General Assembly of several Presidents and General Secretaries of the National Conferences of Western Europe was held in Paris in order to found UCESM. The two following questions were asked :  Do we want a European Union ? All the participants were in agreement.
Do we want one European Conference of men and women together or two separate Conferences ? The first proposal was adopted. A provisional committee was nominated to bring forward the creation of the Union of the European Conferences of Major Superiors, UCESM.


1981: Second General Preparatory Assembly for the foundation of UCESM in Rome,
Italy: choice of the name of the Union, study and vote on the canonical statutes. UCESM was founded.

1983: approval of the canonical statutes by CIVCSVA, Rome.

1983: Statutary General Assembly in Rome  
A General Assembly is held every two years
Canonical statutes signed in Rome in December 1983, reviewed in 2003
Creation of the International Non-profit-making Association of Belgian Right, AISBL, in 1999
